Wilderness survival means not being dead in the wilderness. It means a set of basic skills that can keep you sheltered, hydrated, fed, unlost, and repaired if you get broken. It means knowing what to bring, and how to do without it if you don't have it. It means having the skills to improvise and adapt in the wilderness. It means knowing what to do if things go terribly wrong. But it is much more than that. Knowledge, skills, and practice have a goal beyond themselves – to let you feel at home in the wilderness, listen to it speak, and let it enter into your spirit. Wilderness survival means – gradually, over a lifetime – learning how to move with the wilderness, rather than bullheadedly against it. For More Information < Previous Next > |
